What You Resist Persists
You may not like the look of it. It may cause a great deal of discomfort and dis-ease in your body, mind and soul. An issue keeps repeating. A feeling keeps coming up to the surface. You sense something is not right in your world but you push it down and ignore it time and time again.
Those small signs become whispers, the whispers become yells, the yells become screams and the screams become an eruption that brings everything down upon you until you halt and have no choice but to face it directly.
You may even have physical symptoms that can’t be explained or helped by any medical professional. It could show up as sleeplessness, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, skin disorders, digestive issues, weight gain or loss (or the inability to lose it or gain it), infections, autoimmune disorders, cancer and so much more. These are just some of the frustrating and debilitating physical symptoms I’ve heard of, seen directly or had myself that arose when what was ignored intuitively, the universe brought in to face head on.
There’s only so long you can run until it catches up with you. You either perish in the dis-ease or you address the elephant in the room.
In my own personal experience, I suffered with acne and eczema all over my body. I didn’t want to live putting cream after cream and steroid after steroid on my body to ‘manage the symptoms’. I wanted to know the root cause. I did sensitivities tests and found foods aggravating my body. I did a candida diet to help flush it out but it returned with a vengeance. My naturopath suggested everything from ointments to supplements but this was unbearable! It wasn’t until I had an appointment with an ayurvedic practitioner where they asked me about my home and relationship with my spouse. It wasn’t good. It’s was draining and toxic and defeating. “You can adjust your diet all you want but unfortunately your eczema (and any other skin issues) will not go away until you deal with the relational issues you have at home.” My body was inflamed. My body constitution (dosha) from an ayurvedic standpoint was primarily Pitta (fire). The communication/relationship issues at home were rising my Vata (air). So what happens when when you blow air on fire? More fire! My body’s response to the conflicts in my marriage were causing and triggering my eczema.
Only after I left the marriage and moved out the following year was the prognosis proven when all of my eczema disappeared within two weeks! Mind-blowing, I know!
It’s understandable that we don’t associate physical ailments, illnesses and diseases (really dis-eases) with what is happening in our lives mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually but it has EVERYTHING to do with them. It’s the energy of everything culminating in our lives that affect the internal energy of ourselves.
Perhaps what you may be resisting isn’t something that’s physically showing up for you but rather a continuous call to improve your circumstances. The universe is basically saying, “Hey! You! Ya…YOU! Can you please pay attention and quit that job you hate or go to school to learn how to do the job that truly calls to you? Can you stop making excuses why you won’t make money at your passion and just put it out there telling others you make that thing or provide that service that could help so many people? Can you just sell that big house and move to a property where you can live off the land, grow your own food and teach others how they can do this too?”
Whatever it may be, the Universe will continue to get louder and louder until you finally get fed up with running into brick walls and use the door that’s a little to the left.
When we answer the calls to address the dis-eases or step into where we feel we need to be, we are richly rewarded. From my personal experience, we find a great sense of peace and harmony living in the flow of our destined path and alignment with our highest timeline, our greatest good and our best life we were fated to live.
These frustrations, annoyances and heartaches are asking you to take off the blinders to see what’s not working and where you are going wrong in your journey. It may have been that fork in the road you took and you can think back to understand, “when I was here, met this person and chose this path, it all went downhill from there.” Once you have a starting point, you can ask, “Why? What was it that made me choose that, think that or feel that and then everything started to plummet?” The more questions you ask, the further and deeper into the thick of it you can go to uncover the root issue. Once you bring that to the surface, you have the power to shift it all from there to make the changes necessary and begin to build a better life for yourself.
Changing your limiting beliefs, getting rid of others narratives, judgements and opinions of how you “should” live your life, moving away from circumstances and relationships that no longer serve you and your desired life, and shifting any mindset of a ‘lack’ mentality that you cannot accomplish the life of your dreams are all incredible steps forward to living your most authentic life.
This isn’t to say there won’t be problems along the way, it’s just that they don’t seem so insurmountable once you are aligned with your true self and living life in harmony with your purpose. There is a sense of ease and peace within because you are grateful to have overcome the challenges of the past to get where you are now.
When you accept what is, make the necessary changes and live more fully for yourself, there is no more resistance to be confronted with.
You will finally find your freedom.
