Cutting Cords is Essential to Move Forward

I saw this cut rope on my walk the other day laying on the ground beneath the tree. That sight in and of itself is a stark trigger of pain from the past. Do I dare look up? Slowly I did…nothing. Oh thank God! Then it’s here for another reason. I heard my spirit guides loud and clear. “Cut the Cords.” Ah,..yes.

In case you are unaware, we have energetic cords connecting us to people, places, situations, experiences, habits, patterns and thoughts through all space and time. Yeah, I know that’s quite a heavy thing to consider all on its own but, it’s true. We are energy and so is everything else. So when we have an experience, meet a person or create a belief we automatically create a connection between us and it/them. Some of those cords are thick and deep rooted. Others can be but a slight thread, but attached nonetheless.

What we don’t quite understand in my personal opinion is the effects of these attachments in accordance with our lives. How can a person we met and had a past relationship with come to mind 10 years later yet you feel this ‘tugging’ at your mind and soul of something to do with them or wondering how they are? That in my opinion is the cord attaching you to them that energetically binds you and keeps a connection alive.

In the process of shedding a life that I once knew well and the ever unfolding of new one that still proves to be ever changing, I have understood that I need to acknowledge the cords I have attached to me and the ones I willingly keep alive because there is some healing that still needs to take place. While I have a process to cut cords again and again as I am moving through the detachment and healing process, I have to remind myself that it’s those really impactful experiences, thoughts and people — you know, the ones that shift you to the core, that need the repeated cutting of the connection cords to bring more ease and peace to my life.

The process is simple to cut cords. I am a visual person so I tend to close my eyes as I move through this. I am providing you with my own process however I invite you to create yours based on what feels right in your being.

1) I stand tall and still in Mountain pose, palms open and facing forwards with my eyes closed.
2) I call upon Archangel Michael. He is the archangel of protection.
3) Once I feel his presence with me, I envision all my cords most notably stemming from my solar plexus (stomach) and ask him with his mighty sword to cut these cords to all people, places, thoughts and situations through all space and time.
4) I envision him (he’s very large) lift his mighty sword and he always asks me, “Are you sure?”
I reply, “Yes. Cut them!” With a swift motion, he cuts through them all. I can feel the energetic break between as I stand in sovereignty.
5) I then request, “Michael, please remove all roots to these cords.” This is where I feel the true power lies.
6) He moves in front of me, rips them out and throws them to the ground, disconnecting my soul and attachment to anything that it was previously connected to before.
7) I envision lighting a match, throwing it on the pile and burning them to ash where the wind takes them away.
8) I give gratitude and thanks for his assistance then let him go.

When the process is finished, I feel lighter. I may feel that ‘emptiness’ where those roots were but that’s okay. That’s when you can acknowledge there has been something that has been released.

If calling upon an angel, divine spirit or you just don’t resonate with my method, that’s cool. You need to find your own way to do it.

Other ways I have cut cords is by using Black Obsidian cord cutters. You can find them at many crystal shops. You could also envision scissors or hedge clippers to cut cords. Whatever works for you is what works for you. The point is to free yourself of any toxicity, old beliefs, people or experiences that are no longer adding to your peace, freedom or self love. Anything that you are holding onto that isn’t serving you is begging to be released. Do yourself the favour and cut the cord.

For those extra sticky cords or the ones you seemingly reattach to because let’s face it, there are some powerful ones that are just so hard to release and let go of, you may need to do this over and over. Remember this is all about you and doing what’s best for you and your own spirit. You don’t have to hang onto anything that isn’t helping you or making you feel good anymore. And no, you don’t have to tell anyone you are doing this either. Sometimes it’s for your own sanity that you need to release the people you love most because there is something that just doesn’t feel right in your body. You can always release that pain and reattach to a newer cord that’s healthy, happy and positive.

I hope you find something useful for you here. It’s a practice I have been doing for years now and it helps immensely in this journey or life. To release past and make space for the present and future is expansive and bright of what is possible.
