Learning to Trust in My Sisters: Getting Past the Sisterhood Wound

This is a deep one that truly cuts me to the core. I’m offering it here in hopes to unearth, bring awareness, understand why and trust that the healing necessary will come the more I open myself up. I hope that it can also find you, the one who may also struggle with this wound so you too can find your path to healing.

This is a primary wound. I feel the intensity of it and am allowing myself to forgive the past and build new relationships with sisters that will fully embrace, support and love me in my wholeness. However, this has come only after such deep betrayal and pain from my sisters. Stories I wish I didn’t have to tell. Experiences I wish I didn’t have to live through. My own actions I took to test others commitment to me which ended up working against me. I never understood why! Why would sisters do these horrendous things to one another? Weren’t we all on the same team? Apparently not.

Through my recent research and education of sisterhood, I began to uncover how deep this wounding truly is. It’s not just relevant to us in this lifetime, it’s been for generations and generations we have carried these wounds in our DNA. It was out of fear. It was out of necessity. It was for survival. You could be spared by turning on your sister. She would die and you could live. This never meant you were safe though. So you did as you were told. You would push down your own gifts, your own thoughts, feelings and emotions to appease the ones in power, the ones who called the shots and the ones who would take your life if you dared to be yourself. Yes, this goes back to the witch wound and even prior to that.

Sadly, women have felt that they needed to turn on one another for far too long. We’ve been told how to act, not act, how to think, not think, how to dress, not dress, how to be a “good girl”, not be a “bad” girl, be smart but not too smart, be a mother but be a worker, be available but not too available, be sexual but not too sexual. Oh my god, the list goes on and on. It’s exhausting. So when one woman chooses to stand up or be bold, another can ridicule, put down and stomp on the other to bring her down to the level they are at or beneath them in order to maintain the status quo. We have been made to feel like we have to stay a certain way to be accepted.

I am officially stating and claiming that this time is O V E R!

We need to change the dynamics of our connection to our sisters. We need to start celebrating one another for the courageous, intelligent, wondrous, sensual, creative, driven, nurturing, divine beauties we are. We need to lift one another up, support each other through the challenging moments and changing times. We need to come together to create a more peaceful, kinder and loving world. A world that holds the feminine in all her glorious beauty, to be mothers and sisters to one another, to our children, to our masculines, to humanity, to Mother Gaia and all beings on our planet and beyond.

It is becoming very apparent that it is the feminine that needs to rise in her power. The power of light, love and growth in a peaceful and encouraging state. We need to each do our part to make this happen though. We need to begin to heal our wounds, tend to the deep and painful cuts they may have left in us. Let us be open to allow space to hold ourselves and our sisters in their struggles and strife. Can we also learn to forgive and be compassionate towards those hurt sisters who felt so unloved, unworthy and unseen in their own lives that they turned on us? On their sisters? We can be the change. The sisters that can break barriers, open our minds and hearts to embrace this change and call in the sisters who are ready for this new awakened world.

We may not forget but we can heal and forgive, for ourselves and the life of this planet we want to create.

To my sisters,
I love you.
I want the very best for you.
Your successes are my successes.
I want us all to reach for the stars, achieve our dreams and know we are worthy of it all.
Of love.
Of abundance.
Of happiness and joy.
Of sisterhood.

I have seen the possibilities and I am surrounded by some of the most incredible, beautiful and awe-inspiring sisters I could have ever asked for. I am eternally grateful for them and desire to continue cultivating these relationships among many others that will flourish in the future.

You are each so pivotal to being my sister.

Hold each other close and begin to trust the whispers of your heart that we are all here for one another.

Us sisters are here to light up the world.

It’s time to trust. It’s time to heal.
